Take 10 - Determination, Strength & Faith

Feb 07, 2022 00:08:36

Today we are looking at determination, strength, and faith. We’re looking at Luke 8 verses 43 – 48 (The women with the issue of blood) this week we are focusing on. Luke 8:43-48.

43 And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians,[a] she could not be healed by anyone.

There was a lady who had been bleeding for 12 years. She was determined to find a doctor or a physician that could heal her. She searched and visited so many that she spent all her money trying to be set free of her issue.  This type of illness would have kept her from going to the temple. It was really by Mossaic law illegal for her to touch any holy thing. This woman's faith in reaching out and touching Jesus' garment was greater than her fear of being punished.

After searching for a miracle she heard about a man name Jesus who was passing by. She was determined to get to him, so she pressed her way through the crowed. The lady was determined to be healed, and to be in his presents. Have you ever had a time where you were so determined to complete a task, to make a difference, to be healed? When there is an issue weighing heavy on your heart we tend to focus on every day and night? Our determination and builds strength more causing us to press on allowing nothing to hold us back or throw us off track.

44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased.

Her issue that man could not fix after 12 years and spending all the money that she had was fixed. She was healed immediately. When she reach out on and touched the hem of his garment and was made whole. Her determination, strength, and faith in who Jesus was and what he would do for her.  Manifested right before her eyes.

45 And Jesus said, “Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter[b] said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!”

46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.” 47 And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”

Her great faith caused the goodness (virtue) of God to flow out to her and heal her. Jesus knew, because He felt the flow of goodness from Him to her. She had unshakeable, unmovable, steadfast faith.
